Intake port was so big, a 12oz. can would fit down in port completely. Top end motor, would have been good in fuel classes but it had a dry deck sealing (no head gaskets, O rings) when you put nitro and boost….well you know. A guy named Pete Robinson had some luck with motor in fuel , and maybe Kalitta, not sure. But was not reliable at boost.

@middsteve Interesting, i would assume they wouldnt take corners well at all with that MASSIVE motor, but with the right gearing, tires, driver, etc id think they’d be pretty mean. Then again Nascar motors seem more geared for top-end than acceleration, that might be a factor. Id still like to see that Yenko, Boss, Challenger shootout though just for nastalgia if anything =P

@middsteve interesting. Friend had a Shelby Cobra with a Cobra Jet V8 in it. He preferred it to the 427 SOHC motor, but I’m not sure if his heads were stock. Either way, that thing put out around 410 hp.
