future ford mustang engine?

By admin | January 24, 2008

Psycolops asked:

The current ford mustang is equipted with the 245 cu. in. 4.0L SOHC 12Valve V6 with 210 hp power.
This engine is also shared wwith the current ford explorer, and ranger.
I was just wondering if you guys think ford has any plans to put the newly developed 3.5L dual overhead cam, 24-valve Duratec 35 V6 in the mustang. This engine is currently used for the all new ford edge and is going to be used with the future 2008 ford taurus.
I like the idea of having of this new more powerful V6 in the mustang so if i wanted to opt. for it in the future instead of the v8 it still would be quite powerful

Get out of here, if you want more power order the V8! The Explorer 4.0 is a great engine and it’s about time they put it in the Mustang, It makes as much power as the old 5.0’s! and more than the supercharged 3.8 that was in the Thunderbird.

The next generation Mustang will probably drop the 4.0L V6 and replace it with a better tuned version of the 3.5L V6. I imagine the V8 will stay 4.6L.
