Ford Mustang?????????????
By admin | December 16, 2007
karate09 asked:
What was the best year for the Ford Mustang? Why was that the best year?
I am wanting to buy a Ford Mustang but do not want one of the models that uses up alot of gas, therefore, I need to know what year was the best for both performance and gas-saving.

the one best year that i think was the best was the 68 fast back, those ran extremely well, looked really good and was meant to be a good car,by then they had worked some of the bugs out of the mustang suspension, and they handled really good, there was lots of good years though but that was my favorite, good luck, hope this helps.

1967 you can get a 6 cyl a regular 8 cylinder or a 427,or 428 motor or a 390. It could be a coupe , convertible or fastback . But they cost alot for a good clean one.. make 67 fastback bodies .only 15,500 bucks plus 499 crating cost.

Hey man, what’s up? The best year for the mustang would be around 64-73. The 73 Mach 3 is a perty good Mustang. But really, it uses a lot of gas.

2004 cobra if you can afford the cobra if not, the 04 gt. The 2004 v8 stangs recieved a much better then ave reliabillity and repair history from consumer reports. They are one of the most reliable vehicals on the road. The 04 cobra gets 17-22 mpg and is the fastest stock car made for under 50k. It also is one easiest cars to add mods to in the world. The gt is gets 18-24 mpg and runs a 13.8 1/4 mile which is faster then any stock car you can get for the same price or cheaper made in 04. It also is very easy to modify and is tremendously reliable.

You will have a lot of people talking about the classics like I would too..staying away from any mid to late 70s too…
Pretty much mustangs of the last 10 years or so have been pretty good with the best for power and performance IMO has been the newest 2005 and newer mustangs with the best in overall power vs Fuel Economy IMO
Best bet would be a v-6 model of the 2005 and later variety… Some of the v-6s made as much power or more than say a 1980 mustang v-8 for instance!!!

I would tend to agree with Gearbox1. ‘05-’06-’07s have all the latest technology, safety equipment, & a better ‘power vs mpg’ ratio. Also emissions ratings should be taken into consideration, especially if its a daily driver.
And if it is a daily driver, by all means…get the traction control!
The old classics would be nice but costly to restore, not necessarily for every day.
If you want something in between…well I would go for something after ‘94.
In ‘94 Ford went to a ‘no adjust build’. That gave the Mustang more structural uniformity & quality (& consequently less squeaks & rattles, even many miles later)
I hope this helps.
