Garrett asked:
I am wanting to buy a 96-98 Ford Mustang GT for my first car. I need some information on the car itself and how much they go for. If yall reccomend a different model, please tell me. Thanks.

They are very cheap since the resale value and reliability is bad.
You can get them anywhere from $2,000-6,000 depending on condition and mileage.

if you get one of those, get the SVT Cobra. theyre cheap, and have lots of power for those years and are good cars. i had one until i bought my Terminator Cobra. but if you dont feel like spending an extra grand or so on a cobra, you can get a GT for a little cheaper, but im not so sure on how good those are. i know that SVT has built hard working reliable cars for a good amount of time so far, so i would get that. and i wouldnt get a 94 or 95 mustang, theyre the first ones out for that era, and all new ford cars have problems when they come out, thats why the later models are improved. so go for the 96-98 like you said

Dont listen to C7S, he always bashes Mustangs and never presents any facts. I dont have a problem with people that point out negative aspects of mustangs as long as they are honest, but when 99% is not true it gets old. The resale value and reliability is not bad, that is just a lie with absolutely no facts to back it up. The 1998 mustang gt is a great car for a first car. If you look at JP power or consumer reports the 98 mustang gt has an excellent repair and reliability history. According to consumer reports the 1998 gt mustang only recieves a rating of “worse then average” in one catagory which is cooling. The other 15 catagories are rated either “average”, “better then average” or “much better then average”. 9 out of the 15 catagories are rated at either “better then average” or “much better then average” including the engine, transmission, electrical, AC, suspension, brakes, exhaust, paint/trim, and power equip. The overall “used car verdict” for the 1998 mustang gt is “better then average”. The 98 mustang gt gets 17 city mpg and 25 hwy mpg which is very good for a car with a v8 engine that puts out 225hp and 265tq. According to Kelly blue book, the resale value for the 1998 mustang gt is “better then average”. Overall, it is a great car for anyone, but expecially a first time owner. I will leave a link below to kelly blue book, if you go to the “review” of the 1998gt mustang you will see that Kelly Blue book labeled it “the best overall car in its class”. That hardly sounds like a cheap car with bad reliability and resale. Like I said, when you want facts and accurate information about mustangs or other Ford vehicals you should trust the professionals which I have quoted and given you information from throughout my answer. Alot of people out there like C7S just seem extremely jealous of the success of the mustang and try to bring it down. For a 1998 gt mustang with 100,000 miles in good condition from a private party you should expect to pay around $6,200 according to kelly blue book.
